Before I moved it from my house to the new nursery, my Chusquea culeou never failed to turn heads, and was a customer favorite. Not only does the form and texture of this bamboo live up to its common name, but it has awesome seasonal color as well. In this article, learn a little bit about the origin of this bamboo, along with where and how you might use it in your garden. Click on a pic to view a larger image, and click again to shrink it. The Portland Bamboo Festival is coming up this weekend, July 26 at the Hoyt Arboretum in Portland, OR from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. If you are in the market for some bamboo plants, or have questions about bamboo and how to grow it, you don’t want to miss this event! There will be lots of bamboo for sale, and bamboo experts available to answer questions. Vendors will be located in the picnic shelter just across from the visitor’s center. If you haven’t been to Hoyt Arboretum, the trip is worth it just for that. Also nearby are the Portland Rose Gardens, and world reknowned Japanese Gardens as many other Washington Park Attractions. Hope you can make it there!
Since the 4th of July weekend, I have been taking a break (as much as possible) from bamboo and blogging, spending as much time as possible boating in the south Puget sound. Here a few pics from down Shelton way.
